Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user Lionelion. He is Newground's resident Kirby fan #1 and will talk about Nintendo.

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username Lionelion?

Lionelion:

"Well, it had to be about 8 years ago or so, back when I was in middle school. I had just started using the internet, and had been overjoyed to find out that I could play free games online. I spent a lot of my time at a site called addicitinggames, where they had plenty of games to choose from. One day, I was watching my friend play a game called Defend your Castle. I thought it was pretty cool, so I asked him where I could play the game. He said on a site called Newgrounds.com. Well needless to say, I got right on that and started playing the game on Newgrounds. The place seemed pretty interesting, so I came back from time to time. After awhile, I noticed I could make an account here, so I decided, why not? I went to sign up, but then something caught my eye: It said signing up was a grounds gold account. That stopped me in my tracks. I thought that meant I had to pay to make an account(At the time, I was playing a game called Runescape, and you had to pay to be able to access the good stuff, so I really couldnt be spending much else). Needless to say, I didnt make an account then. However, that didnt stop me from still visiting the website. After a few years of visiting the site and coming in to more money, I decided that I could finally make an account. Imagine my surprise(and relief!)when I found out that I didnt have to pay a cent! Needless to say, I was quite happy. Ever since I've been an avid user. As for how I got the name Lionelion, well I dont know if youve seen me around the forums before, but I wasnt always Lionelion, I used to be Lionel738 for the longest time. I was actually totally OK with that name for awhile, till I came across a thread that asked about usernames and what people thought of them. One particular user, I cant remember his name, said that he didnt take users with numbers in their names as seriously. At the time it didnt bother me much, but it kept gnawing at me in the back of my mind. I eventually decided to PM Wade about it and ask for a change. He didnt reply, so I then asked Tom. He didnt reply either, so I gave up. However, a few months ago, I came across another thread about a user who had changed their username about 3 times or so within the past 2 weeks. This got me thinking, perhaps if I ask again now, Wade will do it! So I did, and a few days later, I got the name change! Got rid of the numbers at the end and became Lionelion. I will say that the 738 did have some significance, but nothing to do with Newgrounds, so I wont bother mentioning it."

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Lionelion: "I have definitely changed as a user. I used to be pretty timid, I never went on the forums, mainly because I dont think I knew they existed. I would only watch flashes or play games, and only review them if I feel like my review would be helpful. Nowadays, Im on the forums all the time, im still an avid flash watcher and game player, and I have a better idea about reviews now and whatnot. As for real life, I guess I changed somewhat, though perhaps for the worse. I feel like I spend more time on the internet now than I used to, and Im not entirely sure that is a good thing. Recently though ive been getting out of the house more and doing more outside activities."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Lionelion:

"BobbyBroccoli is one of my favorite users here, we are both avid Nintendo fanboys, and agree on just about everything. I would like to say Revo357912 and I have bonded over the text-based games he sets up in the forums. I recently bonded with Razz when we both spent time in the NG mumu chat.Nentindo is also a pretty cool guy, and I also get along with beardkiller. Also a shout-out to Sevkat for being the first one to show me recognition on the forums. Imatouko-chan is also really nice, we bonded over flagging reviews."

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

Lionelion:

"Ehh, not entirely I suppose, I usually try to keep a nice demeanor. I dont really like hateyou1 though, or golfinho, just because of his shitty flashes."

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

Lionelion:

"I like the forums, gives the users a place to talk to each other about different topics. I usually just visit the General forum and the VG forum, and occasionally visit the Clubs & Crews forum, as well as the Where is/How to forum. As for other users, I'd love to see you do one on Imatouko-chan. I suppose it'd be pretty cool if you did one on Revo357912."

Iguess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Lionelion:

"For the most part, I think they do a pretty good job. Occasionally one or two of them can be dicks sometimes, but im pretty sure they take their moderation powers seriously and dont abuse them. Currently, my favorite mod is Back-From-Purgatory"

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

Lionelion:

"You know, if you had asked me that a few months after signing up, I wouldve said hell yes, particularly a forum mod. I wanted to be one so bad, for awhile, my posts consisted of pretty much being a backseat mod, informing others of the rules even if I thought the slightest thing was wrong. Nowadays though, I dont know if i'd do such a good job at being a moderator, and not just a forum mod, any mod. I just feel like even though I'd try my best, I wouldnt be able to fulfill the requirements(or something like that)"

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

Lionelion:

"Honestly, I love it, but I miss the 2007 redesign sometimes. Im still just waiting for the admins to fix all the bugs so the site can be viewed at its best. I do like all the different backgrounds for the different parts of the site though, thats pretty cool. I also like how Tom made it so you can rearrange the front page to your liking, when that happened, I was all like 'wtf? I can change the site layout???', it was pretty cool."

Isee that you have chosen Kirby as your usericon. Why do you like Kirby and what makes him stand out from other Nintendo characters?

Lionelion:

"Well, I think the thing that really makes Kirby stand out is his copy ability. I mean, there's no one else that can do that! He doesnt need to worry about his enemies, he can just simply eat them and gain their abilities! Seriously, tell me you wouldnt want to have that power, right? But apart from that, he's just this cute little pink puffball! I mean, you wouldnt think something like that would have such a fearsome power as being able to eat his enemies, right? His demeanor just makes it all the better, he's always about fun, and eating, and never gets serious unless he's battling something. I just think its so awesome that something so pure and full of fun and laughter could also be so powerful and fearsome. If I had to pick one power to have, it would be Kirby's power. In fact, last year, I had a writing assignment for college where I had to create a superhero and his back story, and I gave him that exact power, except without the eating part."

Can you tell me which was your first video game that featured Kirby? What do you like about the Kirby games and can you tell our readers a bit how you experienced the evolution of the Kirby games throughout different consoles?

Lionelion:

"Well, my very first Kirby game was Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. That was the game where you could combine two different abilities to obtain an even stronger ability. There was something about that game, it was just so much fun. I kept playing it over and over again, I could never get enough of it. That game was what started my love for Kirby, and I'd like to say what really began my love for gaming overall. I never actually bought the game, whenever I played it, it was a rental from my local video store, and Ive always regretted not buying the game. Later on, when I got a DS, the first game I got for it was Kirby's Canvas Curse. It was a little different from the mainstream Kirby games, but it was still quite fun. It wasnt until sometime after that that I had come across emulators and found out that there were Kirby games that had come out on the NES and the SNES. Boy, did that make me sad that I hadnt found out about Kirby earlier. Still though, through emulation, I was able to play the games. Better late than never, right? So I continued on, buying up every Kirby game that came out, such as Kirby Squeak Squad, Kirby Air Ride, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Kirby Mass Attack, and most recently, Kirby's Return to Dreamland. I still have all these games, and play them all frequently, most notably Kirby Air Ride because of the soundtrack, even though Ive beaten them all multiple times. They are just that much fun to me. This year also marks Kirby's 20th anniversary! Nintendo is releasing a box set of 6 different past Kirby games, kinda like how they did for Mario in Mario All Stars. With it also is a music disc with many different Kirby songs on it. I am really looking forward to this release!"

You are a fan of Nintendo. Which was your first Nintendo console?

Lionelion:

"The SNES, aka the Super Nintendo. It actually wasnt mine though, my eldest sister had bought it, I just ended up playing it the most."

With the release of the Nintendo 3DS, the time of Nintendo DS game release will come to an end and close a nice chapter of video gaming history. Please tell my readers about some games that fascinated you the most.

Lionelion:

"Well what can I say other than the Kirby series! I do believe my first DS game was Kirby: Canvas Curse. Since then, I've obtained all the Kirby games that came out for the DS. I won't list them all, but one of the best was Kirby Super Star Ultra. It took all the elements from the original game, and improved upon them tenfold. It was just simply amazing. Other than Kirby though, Ive also been playing the Pokemon series. I will say I was a bit lenient on getting the most recent games, Black and White, and even more lenient on getting the sequel, but its still an amazing series over all. Ive also been trying to get into the Phoenix Wright series, but so far I've only got the first game. Lastly, the Mario games. Don't think I need to say much about that."

You own a 3DS. I want to know 2 things: Do you like the 3DS and the current games for it and do you think that it is innovative enough? What are your thoughts about the accouncement of the release of the Nintendo 3DS XL?

Lionelion:

"Personally, I think the 3DS is amazing. The way they incorporated the 3D element was simply fantastic. So far, I'd say it has a pretty stable library of games, and it's only going to get better. Its definitely innovative enough too. Makes me wonder how they are gonna top it in 4-5 years from now. As for the 3DS XL, ehhh....I mean, if you dont already have a 3DS, sure, go ahead and get the XL, but if you already have one, don't bother going for an upgrade, its the exact same thing, only bigger. Honestly I think its just a way for Nintendo to make more money. I didnt see the point for the DSi XL, and I dont see the point for a 3DS XL."

Nintendo has announced their next big project, the Wii U, and it will be released in the near future. Are you looking forward to the Wii U? What are you expectations about it?

Lionelion:

"Oh, I am DEFINITELY looking forward to it. I can't wait to get my hands on one of the new controllers with a screen on it! What amazed me the most was the announcement of Miiverse. Nintendo is finally creating an online networking for their fans. I mean, its a little late, Microsoft and Sony had already done the same for their earlier consoles, but better late than never, right? Im really looking forward to seeing how the new controller is going to affect gameplay though. The fact that you can take whatever youre playing on the TV and transfer it to the screen on the controller to play elsewhere just looked amazing."

Pokemon. A huge franchise, that managed to withstand through the centuries. Tell me what you think about the main games of this series and what you think about the different generations of Pokemon.

Lionelion:

"Well now, let's see. I did play the original Red and Blue, but I kinda skipped over Gold and Silver, though I did get a taste of it after playing Crystal for a bit. After that, I actually stopped playing Pokemon, and wasnt going to get back into the series. It wasnt till LeafGreen and FireRed came out that I got back into it. After playing FireRed, I went back and got Emerald to check out the 3rd gen. Once again though, after that, I had decided to stop playing pokemon again. It wasnt until I got Pokemon Diamond on a whim that I got back into the series. And then later, after debating over it, I decided to get Black as well. I also bought Heartgold before Black, but it accidentally broke, so I dont have it any more. Sorry, didnt really answer the question there, did I? What do I think about the games? Well I definitely think its one of the most creative games ever. I think my favorite gen is 3rd gen, that was the one that I really played the most. In fact, I still have my 3rd gen team on my pokemon Black game. 1st gen will always be the best in my mind though. About the generations though, I think 5th gen is where its started to go downhill. I mean dont get me wrong, it still looks good, but I feel like pokemon is starting to tire out. I'll still keep buying the games till it does though."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

Lionelion:

"I'm gay. No, totally kidding. Secrets? Hmm, well if I told you, it wouldnt be a secret anymore, would it? Heheh, well I suppose I could tell you one or two things ... erm....well....honestly I can't think of much, but I can tell you a few things I havent told anyone on here yet, though they arent really secrets. Im a huge fan of the Marx Brothers. They were an old team that made comedy movies, and they were funny as HELL. Also, I wanted to be a stand-up comic at one point, as well as an adventurer."

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username CrazyRock?

CrazyRock:

"Well I first visited newgrounds in 2009 searchin for a game called 'Pico vs. Uberkids' that made my 2005 shine! I remember playing that game over and over again until I finished it like 10 times a day, good memories I must tell you. Remember that Newgrounds didn't embded flash files into the site, there was a popup which made Newgrounds stick out and made it unique, awesome. I joined a year later after I found out aboutPivot and Flash. I wasn't planning on staying for 1 month but here I am 2 years later visiting Newgrounds everyday, there's just something about this place. I had a few accounts before this one so I could spam some art forum thread, but this account started under the name 'RockOn12', I don't remember why but I had to change it because people were thinking I was 12, and I don't know why I choose CrazyRock either, it probably sounded cool to me."

CrazyRock:

"Yes and yes, this place along SoupSquad made me more mature and also teached me to use proper english on forums. It all got into my real life in which I'm alot more mature now (lol) . So I'd have to thank the BBS and the SoupSquad for that, they're just awesome!"

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

CrazyRock:

"I love it, I love everything about it but those small bugs, meh they're not that big. Also the best thing about this epic redesign is the new portal that's coming our way, fuck yeah I can't wait. Also I miss the girl with the 'fag' :("

You are a member of the Soup Squad. Tell our readers about the group and how you became a member.

CrazyRock:

"Ohhh shit, that's a long story, but here goes(fuck yeah I made it shorter): It was one dark night and I was browsing through the BBS when I clicked on Dosensuppen's profile. When it loaded I saw a newspost about a new flash crew called Soupsquad and I was like: 'Well this could be fun' and followed the link to a small invisionfree forum where I created my first account. Soon after more members came like Ramen and Carrot(Yeah you don't know them(LefyBoy and tehtimmy4080)) and SoupSquad started messing with Mia, at that time he was an 'enemy' of Soup Squad(I was still friends with him then). After a few flashes and weeks I got my first ban there because they were thinking I was leaking information to Mia, got unbanned the same day but it looked like it was an eternity! Then came Kitty (Sevkat) and rumours of a new site of SoupSquad, invisionfree fourm got shut down and the forum was on Sevkat's site for a few weeks, the first night it opened on there I remember staying up to 6 am on a laptop in my bed and trolling, almost got banned. After those timesSoupSquad's official site came up! On that site we made alot of good flashes (Fucking Wasted, Soup Of The Day New Years, Soup Of The Day Christmas...) But before those soup of the day collabs and a week after Fucking wasted I got a permament ban hammer from Taco(Krutches) because I sent him a link to a competition on facebook from which he assumed I was a hacker and asked me stupid questions which I didn't take seriously and I acted like a dick(yeah). Some time before the New Years Eve I got unbanned while I was trying to get into SoupSquad again as a different soup, didn't work tho. From then till now we are one big happy family and we like all to cuddle in the dark. Incest - Fun for the whole family is our motto(ok not really)"

You worked together with many artists in your flash submissions. Do you like how Newgrounds's project system makes it easier to work together with others and will you continue to particpate in collaborations?

CrazyRock:

"I really like working with other people, what can I say? :P Yes, the Project System is making everything so much easier. No more waiting for someone who isn't online accept your flash buddy request if he wasn't on your list again. No more linking to mediafire to download fla's and other files, and the best thing of all you can now preview yout flashes. And yes, I will continue to make collabs with people as long as I'm on here!"

Interview with CrazyRock

Posted by Asandir - July 23rd, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

Todays interview features the user BizzarroPMP. He will tell us about how he changed in his time on Newgrounds and about his awesome project Join the Heard.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join?

BizzarroPMP:

"Whew....um...a long time ago. My first experience was in '00 or '01 (WTC bombing hadn't happened yet) when some kid in a public library showed me Pico's School. I was 11 and it was strange. I won't lie, It scared me a little bit lol. But I still went back. The Assassin, DK Project and Adult flashes were quick to satiate my 11/12 year old mind. The real question is "Why didn't you join sooner??" The answer to which is, I was not 13 yet. That's right. I ACTUALLY listened to the age restrictions for joining........although I frequently went there to play dressup games. Go figure, right?"

Why did you choose the username BizzarroPMP?

BizzarroPMP:

"Well, my first account in '03 was called baby_eater, because I was 13 and super edgy and hawdcore and just did not give a fuck! TAKE THAT, SOCIETY!! YEEEAAH! MY AURA IZ DARK/EVIL LEIK MAH SOUUULL AN UR JUST GON HAV2 DEEL WIT IT!!!!1 Ahem....excuse me.... ...but later, when we all got our one freebie name change (after one of the redesigns), I decided to go with ProMotionProductions. Yes. The Production of Professional Motion. You see, I had just downloaded flash, and had high hopes of becoming an animator. I think we can all say for certain that kids aren't in the least bit flighty.... So in '10 I made an alt account to.....uh.....I am sure I had a reason. But anyway, its name was BizzarroPMP, P.M.P. being the initials of my "main." But, little did I know, this account would be my new main. I plan on getting a name change sometime in the future, though."

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

BizzarroPMP: "Man....from 11 to 23? Yea, I think I changed. There is now hair where there was no hair before. I have graduated high school. I have been in love. I have had my heart broken. I have had weird sex that I wish to forget. I have seen friends die. I have witnessed my parents divorce. I have been arrested. I have battled drug addiction and won. I don't like marshmallows anymore. All of which is reflected in my posts and reviews. They are a mirror into my subconscious, my changing interests, my experiences. Your boy Bizz has been through a lot, NG, so take everything I say with a grain of salt."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

BizzarroPMP:

"I like a lot of users! :D The first user that I really talked to was JBKalso, but I never see him on anymore. Then I started chatting with Mumbo and TurkeyBased. Those are the two I talk to the most. But there are also users like Blazejsg, blauwwolkje92, YenMuffin, dlxrevolution, Spirit, Gimmick, Jay and theeketel that I enjoy talking to when they're on. .....and of course Asandir! <3333 Miss you in chat, BROba Fett... They influence me by making me want to be active in this community of awesome people!"

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

BizzarroPMP:

"There are. I won't mention them though, because that will only make them think they're cool. Everybody hates you [NAME WITHHELD], we all talk about you behind your back. ...watch someone actually take this seriously. :P"

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

BizzarroPMP:

"I love the forums! General is my favorite because everyone there is just trying to have a good time and joke around. Except when people take it too seriously. Don't get me wrong, when normal users do this it can be hilarious....but when a mod treats General like it's serious, it can be annoying. And YES! Interview Mumbo! He's funny and active on the forums and a lot of people would like to see him interviewed."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

BizzarroPMP:

"Haha.....yes, the mods. Most mods are pretty awesome, but they're only human and still have weaknesses and off days. Others are just complete shit and I have no idea how they came to moderate anything. There are some I wouldn't trust to moderate their own bowel movements... I like Poozy overall. He is funny sometimes, when he gets involved in the conversation. He is just a little too inconsistent. Back-From-Purgatory has an interesting style. He is very strict on spam and trolling, which is how it should be, and he juxtaposes that firmness on locking with a very lenient ban policy. Dean is a skinhead neonazi......go figure, right? lol Those were just a few examples. Now, I can only speak from personal experience and observation, so take that how you will."

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

BizzarroPMP:

"Yes. Make me a moderator. I will be the best mod you have ever seen. I will dance better than Baryshnikov and score more goals than Wayne Gretzky. I will be fair, balanced and will keep my own precocious mischief in check when its time to be adult about things.BizzarroPMP for mod 2012! :D ....but who am I kidding, I'd probably just systematically ban everyone until the site was empty and post goatse.... *SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE* Vote Bizzy '12 *SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE*"

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

BizzarroPMP:

"I love the redesign.........'s design. I've been around a while, and seen pretty much every single version of Newgrounds there is. In short, the look of the site keeps getting better. Now, the technical stuff is more tricky. Lets take the searchbar for example. The previous one was actually superior in that you could search by name or artist. There is NO MORE SEARCHING BY ARTIST!! That is a big problem... Or not, I mean, once you get to the animation you like, you can just get to the artist's other games and movies through the dropdown box, right...? WRONG. That is gone too. The layout may look all beer and skittles but there is still much more work to be done on how the UI functions."

The featureless Newgrounds chat has arrived. What do you think about it? Do you like the chat?

BizzarroPMP:

"I love chat! It's where I go when I'm banned from the forums lol. I remember Zendra gave me a 30 day ban, and I was cracking up.....but Chat kept me sane. All the cool people are usually there, too, so that is a plus."

You seem to be a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Can you tell our readers how you became a fan and what you like about the show? Has being a brony affected your life?

BizzarroPMP:

"Basically, I had heard about it. At first I was super judgmental and I laughed at the whole brony thing pretty hard. I remember seeing people "brohoof" on youtube and I was like "these people are hilarious!" I asked someone what the whole thing was and they linked me to an episode, the first. I didn't really get it right off the bat, but what kept me watching for the entire episode was the animation. That show is the most gorgeous use of ToonBoom Animate to grace TV screens in a while. But I just didn't care for it. So I made a thread in General about it, something I had no idea was such a heinous crime, and before my subsequent verbal rape, I was linked to the MLP:FiM Crew. It was there I was told that the first two episodes were not a good representation of the rest of the series, and that was true. There is a lot of setup of characters and boring stuff. So I was told to just give it one more chance, watch one more episode, any episode, so I did. Luckily for future me, that episode was Party of One. Bronies will know this as the episode where Pinkie Pie's misunderstandings turn her into an antisocial paranoid schizophrenic. So many laughs were had... So I said, "Well, bronies, ya got me. This was enjoyable, thank you for an afternoon of fun, but I have a girlfriend and she would laugh at me for watching this." ....That relationship then went down a lot of terrible paths, and we broke it off. Depressed, I watched a lot of TV in the first few weeks, and in another late night of boredom I turned back to the ponies. This was a completely different experience. Through my now heightened susceptibility to emotion, I finally understood. Not like "Yeah yeah I get it. The show is about friendship," but actual understanding. This was a show about people with positive attitudes dealing with life's problems in healthy ways. They cared for and helped each other. In truth, this was an ideal world. Not the unattainable utopia with no wars, but a perfectly attainable society that, while it still makes mistakes, realizes that we are all part of the same family and we should love each other as we love ourselves, strive to be kind, and be just a little more selfless....It was powerful. I was at a point emotionally where I needed something to feel good about, and this show was it. I was hooked. Within a week I was all caught up, started hanging out in the Pony Crew and met other bronies. So yes, it definitely has effected my life. Either purposely or subconsciously, we hold the people we see on TV and movie screens, read about in books, or listen to on the radio, as role models. Well, I hold the characters in this show as role models. You can laugh, but I think I've really made a good life defining decision."

It seems like you became a member of the Soup Squad. Please tell our readers more about the group and how you became a member. Additionally, tell me your opinion about other flash creating groups on Newgrounds.

BizzarroPMP:

"Soup Squad is a group of terrible people who make terrible cartoons...... I am one of these people. But I kid, I kid. Soup Squad is a flash crew that prides itself in making quick and simple animations to entertain and amuse people, mainly themselves. They have their own forum, apart from newgrounds which I post spam in from time to time. Also pictures of my erect penis. I became a member of the crew when I was in Skype with Krutches (Taco Soup) and he asked me to make a flash for Forex's birthday collab. I did, and you can see my submission on my userpage. As far as other crews go, the only other one I have ever liked was ClockCrew. BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB <3"

BizzarroPMP:

"Yes! I am currently working on rounding up some Newgrounds bronies to do an animated talk show called "Join the Heard!" We will talk about a variety of topics from the brony culture. Favorite fan creation, pony master race, rule34 and other creepy bronies, how my manliness has inexplicably not suffered a bit from watching this show......and a lot more stuff. Interview with BizzarroPMP

Posted by Asandir - July 16th, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

Todays interview features not one, not 2, but 3 users! TheDark,  SubparTony and Wavepad insisted on getting interviewed together, and so the very first triple interview was created. You will find out what they think about each other and lots of other stuff.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose your username?

TheDark:

"I found Newgrounds back in 2002 . Back then I used to play games and watch certain animations such as the Castle Crasher series and Edd. The biggest reason that I joined is because I was intrigued about the forums and the level up system. The username I chose refers to my personality. No I am not a bad guy if that's what you think. I am quite shy and I don't attract so much attention. I prefer being in the background and having fun with the people I know."

SubparTony:

"I discovered Newgrounds about 4-5 years ago. I was searching in the Internet a game in which you could beat up Bin Laden. Then I started playing other games here too. I found Newgrounds a quite interesting site. I have to admit that although my English back then weren't that good, I really liked the ability given to the users of rating submissions and writing reviews. But after few months I got bored and left the site. I still can't remember my old account's username. Anyway, in 2010, when I got a netbook, while searching some webcam games I came over Newgrounds again. I was happy but also disappointed at the same time. Happy that I found this pretty cool site again, disappointed that I had forgotten my username and password. So I decided to make a new one, the one I use now. In this account something I really dislike is my username. When I made it I didn't have many ideas for a username so I used a really simple method to make one; Tony is my name, Par is the first half of my family name and 16 the date of my birthday. I don't like it cause it lacks awesomeness and people keep writing it tonypart16.In my opinion since I first posted in the Newgrounds forums, I have generally changed."

changed his name from tonypar16 to SubparTony

Wavepad:

"I found Newgrounds about 2 years ago when I was trying to look for some Sonic and Naruto flash these movies were amazing and funny. And Im saying real people made this not hi- tech people, PEOPLE LIKE US! I wanted an account so I can review some of the flashes, my first username was "darksonicfan7". Back then I NEVER knew anything about stats or submitting stuff to this place.I only knew how to earn medals and writing reviews! I changed my name because Im a musician and Waves are names of parts in a song so I just added "Wave" to my name "Pad" was a random extra part to my name. People like my name and I appreciate that."

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

TheDark:

"No I didn't. In real life I am trying to be as nice as I can with all people and not trying to start fights. I am trying to be that kind of person here as well"

SubparTony:

" I can say my confidence has been raised slightly over the time because I have found many people having the same ideas with me or have experienced similar to mine situations. For me that was a bit encouraging because now I know that I'm not the only person in the world who has these ideas or have been in this situation. Furthermore, after a while in Newgrounds playing games and watching flash movies, I felt the "need" that I should somehow "offer" in this site. So I think that Newgrounds is the main reason I have become interested in programming (At the beginning because I didn't have a clue about programming I tried animations and art, but eventually I understood that I totally sucked at this). As a user I can see that as the time went by my posts here have improved, but this just a subjective opinion."

Wavepad:

"I have changed a lot over the times, when I was here I was clueless I didn't know ANYTHING! I make more sense now and one time on the art portal on a BBS post I put a picture I didn't draw that's how clueless I was! Now I have more allies and friends which is awesome and I trust them all!"

Tell me what you think about the other 2 users of that triple interview.

TheDark:

"Ok then:Wavepad: I met him first time in the forums where he posted something about NBA If I remember correct. I liked his user icon so I asked him from which anime it was. He said it was from South Park and we both laughed ( yeah I know we laughed like hahaha and lol)Wavepad as a character in my opinion is extrovert ,funny , he will always be there to help you and interesting as a person SubparTony: Again I met Tony in the forums. I read a reply he wrote in one post and I found it quite funny. I then pm'ed him telling him that and because we shared the same interests we became friends quite easily SubparTony as a character is definitely funny , interesting and he will be there to help you as well."

SubparTony:

"Well, I often speak with TheDark. He is a really great guy and I enjoy talking with him. Something I like to him is his interviews 'cause they are pretty interesting and I can see he puts effort on them. I and WavePad haven't talked much. However I think he is a cool guy, who lacks patience unfortunately (I guess he will understand what I mean)..."

Wavepad:

"I don't know that much about SubparTony he looks like a cool guy though.Thedark, however, is one of my best friends on this site, he is a really good artist and he makes interviews too. He helps me with art sometimes. He is a really cool user! And finally I found a person who likes deathnote!"

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

TheDark:

"The first user I spoke too was Yesysh who is an artist I saw his drawings and I liked them very much. He first introduced me to the world of Newgrounds and I am happy I had him as a guide. Other users that affected me positively are tox ,Blazejsg ,WiiFittoToreinaa , Asandir and Nor, The-Great-One, Wavepad, ImaTouko-chan ,SubparTony and Protagonist."

SubparTony:

"Actually there are many users I recognize by their user icons but can't remember their usernames. Some users who I like and I currently can remember are Protagonist, Skaren and Dean. The former two are funny and good users I really like. They haven't really affected me. Maybe Skaren has a little, 'cause he has made me understand that there is no problem with people who like My Little Pony. I consider Dean a VG expert. After I read what's his experience with games I have to admit I quite impressed. Again, Dean hasn't (yet) affected me somehow. Of course there are a lot more users I like but I just can't remember their usernames write now. "

Wavepad:

"There are users that are my friends on this site I already talked about TheDark. Skaren is one of my friends he helps me with a lot of things like my animation, he is a voice actor/additional artist, he is awesome!Same with tox he made my user icon with the background even though they both like My Little Pony they are still my friends! I won't forget gamejunkie and his awesome dog he is one of the smartest users I've ever seen on this site. dx2255 is one of my friends too. I helped him with A LOT of stuff in this site. Oh and my fans are awesome :D!"

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

TheDark:

"I don't consider anyone as an enemy I am trying to be as friendly as I can. Some users though like Amaranthus for example think of me as an enemy but I can't find the reason. I agree with the fact that sometimes my posts have bad grammar but Is that a reason for people to consider me as an enemy?"

SubparTony:

"Enemies? No, no one. There isn't any reason to have enemies. Besides everyone loves me. There are some users I dislike a bit, but I don't feel any hate about them. Users like Rapacity, Rummy0 or Bees are the ones who, I can say, I dislike. Rapacity is a troll who keeps making threads about religious stuff so it's quite reasonable to dislike him.Rummy0 and Bees are overrated (shitty) posters who are not funny at all. Only reason I dislike them is that they are, as I already said, overrated."

Wavepad:

"Well there is one I really hate, alfoo. Just look at his new post! This guy has no respect and hates us for no reason! He hates everyone and everything(including newgrounds). This guy is like the worst artist I have ever seen.LOOK AT THIS!This is the only guy I hate so much,I feel bad for thedarkzero he always gets pushed around by him.Alfoo says shit to his art,and just responds to him with trash talk!THIS USER SHOULD BE BANNED!!!!!"

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

TheDark:

"Two forums I visit often. One is the General and the other one is Video Games I like them both because they have interesting and most of the times funny posts As for the users I would like you to interview, those users are tox ,WiiFittoToreinaa, ImaTouko-chan and Dean."

SubparTony:

"I often lurk at the General, Video Games and Flash forums. In Flash forum you can find really experienced programmers who have helped me a lot and I'm truly grateful to them. In VG forum I have spent quite much time. I like it 'cause it is a place where I can discuss about my favorite "hobby". Of course because in the past I didn't spent much time with Video Games, I'm kind of a noob there. In General Forum I spent most of the time. I like discussing and reading other users opinions and posts. So, as more than 80% of my posts are in the General Forum I think it is pointless to say that I prefer more than the other forums. As for which user I would suggest you take an interview, I recommend you Dean, Protagonist and Skaren."

Wavepad:

"The forums are awesome just that some of them are hard to talk about.I go on the general forums a lot its really awesome and they talk about news that some people don't know about. Another person you would have to interview is Skaren he is really awesome. He is also a really musician."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

TheDark:

"Moderators have been chosen to be moderators for a reason They are doing their job great So yes I believe that they are doing their work as it needs to be done."

SubparTony:

"Moderators here are just fine. I have no problem with them neither I think they have ever banned without a good reason. I wish sometimes they were active more often so that they can lock/delete some threads faster. But this ain't a problem. Generally I think moderators are doing quite a good job, especially Murray and Auz, who are the best in my opinion."

Wavepad:

"Well I wouldn't say they do great job.I would say they do a good job.In my opinion these are one of the best moderatorsMurray, Coop, TurkeyOnAStick they do a really nice job!But some moderators are mean and not fair I went on Scarface's account and this showed.Dude thats messed up."

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

TheDark:

"Yes I would like to be either a Forum Moderator or a flash moderator in the future."

SubparTony:

"Nah, I don't feel like being a moderator (now). After all I'm not that active or experienced and sometimes I find myself surprised as I don't know yet some rules which someone can get banned for. Anyway, if I could be a moderator I would like to be one in BBS. I don't spend much time in the art portal and I've almost never been in the audio portal. As I said I'm not experienced enough to become a moderator."

Wavepad:

"Probably not, its a lot of work and you have to be responsible for that probably in a few years when Im ready to do it. Also, I don't really know the BBS rules, so how am I going to be a moderator if I don't know the BBS rules? If I was a moderator I would just not do anything."

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

TheDark:

"I made a post about the redesign some time ago for the girl who was smoking on the top right. Because people with different ages visit Newgrounds I believe that small children might be affected by the view But despite that fact I like the redesign a lot."

SubparTony:

"In the beginning I wasn't so excited, but I can't say I don't like the redesign. I like the way Newgrounds looks now. What I don't like is that in the forums now we have avatars. I don't know why but it annoys me a bit. Another complaint is that the staff hasn't yet fixed a major feature for the portal, the "flag". Despite all that I don't really have any problem and I'm pretty sure the administrators will fix them soon."

Wavepad:

"Its ok it looks a little bit better than before but there a lot of bugs though. There is this one bug at my stats it says for my audio submissions I only have 0 but I have 2.I really like the new fan thing though! Now not only artists/musicians/game designers get fans so yeah thats one good thing. The way you look at the BBS with your icon looks WAY BETTER! It looks way better for the games and movie just to have a screen shot of the game/movie then just an icon."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

TheDark:

"I prefer keeping my secrets secret."

SubparTony:

"I don't really need to keep secrets from the internet. If anyone takes the time to search my posts he will find some secrets I'm ashamed of in real life. However there are of course some details I keep secret because of different reasons. If you insist...I'm 15 years old and I'm still sometimes afraid of meeting ghosts in the dark. It's not a big secret, I know, but you can laugh at me at least."

Wavepad:

"When I was 13 (before I went to Newgrounds) I fell down the stairs and broke my left arm (thank god it wasn't my right). So it was a more difficult to play basketball with a broken arm.I also loved playing basketball and soccer. I loved playing sports ever since I was 6."

What can we expect from you in the future?

TheDark:

"More interviews that's for sure. I will keep on posting in the forums and I am preparing something big."

SubparTony:

"I don't know. If I decide to make something this summer it will surely be a flash game. Only problem is that I currently don't have any ideas for games. I want to make something original. Let alone my skills in programming are not that great. I just hope I will take the time to finish something even if it is crappy. I just hope I won't spend my whole summer playing games and doing other useless stuff. Anyway, you can expect a flash game from me but don't expect a really good game, although I'll do my best."

Wavepad:

"You will probably expect some movies from me well because I finally found a programmer and we are making a movie called "South Park:Newgrounds".You won't see me on the BBS that much. I might also add more audio, so Im really busy.Possibly I might do some more reviews."

Interview with TheDark, tonypar16 and Wavepad

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user Shade. He will speak abut mysterious boxes, bagpipes and lizards.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username Shade?

Shade:

"When did I first find Newgrounds? Oh geez that was a while back. I think around second grade I went to this afterschool thing with a bunch of other kids from my school there were to computers that kids would flock to everyday the very instant they stepped foot in the building. I remember some kids went on a site called MoFunZone which is a site based in Toronto that has some rather neat flash games on it. With MoFunZone I found Alien Hominid and Clubby the Seal. I must say they had quite the impact on me as a wee lad. I ended signing up in 2010 because I wanted to review some Madness flash. Not being able to think of anything terribly creative in the name department I chose Madnessfreak13. I decided after a while that it was a stupid name and made a thread asking for ideas for a namechange. Donut suggested Shade and it really stuck."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Shade:

"As a user? Yes I must admit I really have. I stated off as an idiot 13 year old who thought too highly of himself and obsessed over stupid bands. I also tried to look cool online (I've learned that just makes you look like a big idiot). In real life? A little bit. I've showed many of my friends how awesome the BBS can be and they just don't get it."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Shade:

"I guess so. Irrelephant is a major one. I think he's absolutely hilarious I don't know how he does it but some of the stuff he posts on his userpage makes me laugh out loud. Also my best friend signed up here a while back, he doesn't actually use the account anymore but he gave it a shot at the very least. I play Minecraft a lot with Kanon who is absolutely amazing at building things and is a pretty cool guy in general."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

Shade:

"Nope. I'm sure there are a fair share out there that don't like me but I don't give two shits about what people think of me on the internet."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

Shade:

"I think the forums are amazing. It's a great way for people on the site to communicate about just about any topic that comes to mind whether it's music, video games or even books no one's heard of people will talk about it and give their opinions on the matter. I can't think of anyone you could interview in the future but I'm sure you'll find someone."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Shade:

"I think they do a decent job at it. I might add that my opinion has changed over the past while on how good a job they're doing. I used to think they were all absolute assholes when I got banned, now I understand that they're doing what needs to be done. It's fair and they leave some rather creative ban messages sometimes. So I guess they're doing a pretty good job."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

Shade:

"Not at all. That would be absolutely horrible. I don't think I'd be the right person to put in that position. I probably wouldn't even know what to do in that position. I probably fuck up or just not do anything and get my modship revoked. Putting me in places of power is a generally bad idea."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

Shade:

"I think it's alright. I prefer the last design better but this one has a better interface and easier access to everything. Preferences are much easier to access amongst other things and the backdrops are much nicer to look at (I think the store's wall is absolutely beautiful). I do miss the Fab aura, which I had set on my page for about a year."

Judging from your activity in the video games forum, I guess that you like video games. Do you have a favourite series? Are there any game releases for 2012 that you are looking forward to?

Shade:

"Favourite series? That's a tough one. I have a lot of games that I play (my count's around 103) but I'll go with the Elder Scrolls for now. Skyrim was brilliant and I'm really enjoying Oblivion at the moment. At some point I plan on actually playing Morrowind which has been sitting in its case alone and unloved for a long time. I plan on pre-ordering the special edition of Halo 4 which is coming out in November this year."

You bought one Mystery Box in the NG store. Can you tell me which item is your favourite? What kind of items would you like to see added to the NG store?

Shade:

"Ah yes, the mystery box. I remember when I got it last year around this time, I think my favorite thing in the entire box would have to be the complete original Astro Boy series I received. I haven't finished it yet but I plan on doing so over the summer. If I could see anything added to the NG store it would have to be more Clock Crew stuff. B shirts, a Strawberryclock alarm, imagine how cool that would be"

You are the owner of fabfaction.forumotion.com. Tell my readers why you made those forums, and about its members.

Shade:

"The Fab Faction forums were something I took over when Dosensuppen handed control of the Fab Faction over to myself he made them but I ended up with ownership of them. I was hoping I could bring the Faction back from the dead, but alas I failed miserably. If you're unaware the Fab Faction was a crew of guys users who wore the Fab aura back in the day. It was planned as a flash crew but really didn't end up as one."

You change your signature and usericon quite often. Do you like those customization options? Would you like to see more options to customize your userpage?

Shade:

"The main reason I change my icon and signature so often is I just get bored with the same old thing after too long. I try to keep a sig for at least two weeks before I change it. But I'm not exactly renowned for my self control. I think that if there were to be any new customization options I think it should be the ability to change your userpage wall. That could be interesting in my opinion."

Shade:

"I really, really, really want to learn the bagpipes. Ever since I first heard a pipe band in a parade here in Toronto I've really wanted to play the pipes. Something about the sound of them just makes me feel ten feet tall. I know a lot of people hate them for some reason (I'll never know why) but I will always enjoy them. I'm also absolutely terrified of all lizards, something about the scales puts me off."

Shade:

"Not much, I'm currently trying to organize a 2012 NG Toronto meet which isn't going too well. I'm also hoping that somehow the portal will accept non-flash files so I can shoot some live-action films and put them on here. I'm also gonna try to get into voice acting."

Interview with Shade

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user RightWingGamer. You will read about what he thinks about MLP, the video games of 2012 and much more.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username RightWingGamer?

RightWingGamer:

"Well, I found newgrounds back in '08, when my friend Kafke wanted to show me a flash he had made. I didn't join until August of '09, and when I did, it was really only for the forums. I chose the name RightWingGamer for three reasons: 1. I hold many right-wing political beliefs, ranging from libertarian (on issues such as censorship), to controversially neo-con (on issues such as foreign policy and American exceptionalism).) 2. I play alot of video games, especially those by BioWare. 3. The acronym RWG is fuckin' badass!"

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

RightWingGamer:

"Well, haven't we all changed since our sign-up? As a user, I believe my debating skills have gotten considerably better, and I've found that approaching every issue with a skeptical and critical mind will help you form a less prejudiced opinion. IRL, I've become very analytical (emphasis on the "anal"). It's gotten to the point that I can't even watch a movie anymore without over-examining every little detail. This is both a blessing and a curse, since it gives me a greater appreciation for films like The Hunger Games, but flat-out ruins me for films like Avatar."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

RightWingGamer:

"Pretty much everyone in the MLP:FiM club. Good Golly, I have never seen people get along so well on the internet. Even when there is a difference of opinion, arguments are short and never bitter. Even outside the club, they conduct themselves like fine gentlemen, in stark contrast to everyone else. Give them a hand, because they have restored my faith in humanity!"

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

RightWingGamer:

"Well, I like to draw the line between "enemy" and "rival." So with that in mind, I would consider Travis to be my rival. He has legitimate opinions, and can hold his own in an argument. Others, like naronic, just form opinions because they "sound cool," and he loves to put his ego above the actual issue. He's the kind of guy who likely strokes off while looking in the mirror, and I can not respect that. There are other users I hate, like FallenMartyr and Exile, but naronic is by far the most obnoxious."

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer?

RightWingGamer:

"My opinion of the forums tends to vary from board to board. I tend to hang around the VG board the most, since I love talking about video games. Ironically, my mainstreamist views on gaming have become far more controversial than my neo-con political beliefs. I am an unapologetic skeptic, and that tends to rub people the wrong way."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

RightWingGamer:

"I actually don't like the moderators that much. Not in a "Fuck da police" manner, just an "I don't think they're doing a very good job" manner. The BBS is loaded with trolls, the mods tend to side with whoever contacted them without hearing both sides of the story, and I've even caught porn being posted without the mods doing jack shit about it. The only mod that I greatly respect is NEVR. Back in 2011, the VG board had an awful problem with flame wars, and NEVR actually did something about it, instead of just going on a case-by-case basis."

RightWingGamer:

"Well, much like the police movies of yore, I would like to become a forum mod. I consider myself even-handed, and believe I can enforce the rules both fairly and efficiently. I see alot of problems with the current forum mods, and I'd like to do something about it. Set a good example, and all that jazz."

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

RightWingGamer:

"Well, I really like how it makes greater use of the previously useless user icons. I also like the new aura system, since the old one was absolutely meaningless. I guess my only complaint is that the search bar is still broken. Being primarily a forumite, that's all that really affected me about the redesign, so my opinion doesn't really extend beyond that."

You seem to be a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Can you tell our readers how you became a fan and what you like about the show? Has being a brony affected your life?

RightWingGamer:

"It's a story I've told many times before, but I still love telling it. I first watched the show back in August of 2011. The pilot didn't leave a good impression on me, so I decided to abandon the show until I was bored enough to go back to it. Who'd have thought that this February would have been so boring? I watched the next episode sometime in late February, and that led to watching the next one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that, and so on. After finishing all available episodes in early March, I joined the MLP:FiM club on Newgrounds. There are many things I like about the show, mainly the characters. Even when the story quality dips, the characters always impress me. A great example of this is the episode Fall Weather Friends. If you think about it, the core plot of the episode is a tired one, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash interacting and playing off of each other helps to make it very enjoyable to watch. The same applies to the episodes Suited for Success, Look Before You Sleep, The Ticket Master, and Best Night Ever. Old stories given new life by excellent characters. Along with restoring my faith in humanity (which I already detailed), being a Brony has also introduced me to the magic of Fan Fiction. My favorite is Of War and Friendship, with the legendary Fallout Equestria being a close second. It's astounding how much I enjoy derivative work now, to the point that I actually enjoy it more than original work."

Judging from your newsposts and activity in the video games forum, I guess that you like video games. Do you have a favourite series? Are there any game releases for 2012 that you are looking forward to?

RightWingGamer:

"Despite my immense disappointment in the most recent installment, I would call Mass Effect my favorite series. It's the only series I know of to tell a fully interactive, hollywood-quality sci-fi story that remembers your choices from game to game, allowing you to reap the full benefits (or consequences) of your every decision.

I am currently anticipating four games in 2012, two of which are actually MLP fan games.

For the mainstream titles:

Assassin's Creed 3: Even though I despise UbiSoft, I've always been a fan of Assassin's Creed. And with the new time period, as well as the acknowledgement of where the previous games went wrong, I believe AC3 could very well be the best Assassin's Creed game yet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: Okay, I hated Black Ops 1, and there are still many aspects of Black Ops 2 that I have absolutely no faith in. However, I'm putting this one on my list because Treyarch actually promised to revamp the campaign and include a branching storyline with multiple endings and an abundance of choice. Sure, It's probably going to be a short game, but I'm hoping it will be replayable.

My Little Investigations: According to developer Equestrian Dreamers, MLI is a pony-fied Phoenix Wright game. Now, I've never played Phoenix Wright, but I do enjoy a good mystery. And from the demo, I'd say the writing is definitely up to snuff with what I'd expect both from the show and the mystery genre in general.

Welcome to Ponyville: Picture this: Mass Effect - combat + ponies. The solution to that equation is Welcome to Ponyville, a fully-voiced adventure game with an emphasis on character interaction and choice. Still no word on any release dates, but I'm still dying to play it.

That's it for the 2012 releases, but I'm also looking forward to Dragon Age 3 in the foreseeable (but not 2012) future. I might be the only soul on the planet who actually liked Dragon Age 2, so I'm definitely getting the sequel."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

RightWingGamer: "I am a supreme Star Wars fanboy. That part people probably already know. What they don't know is that I actually fashioned my own code of ethics around that of the Mandalorian clans, and am even studying the fictional language of Mando'a. I also still have all my old childhood Star Wars toys, and use the SW films as my supreme standard for quality (even if it's not always good quality). I realize this is a tad obsessive, but we all have skeletons in our closets."

What can we expect from you in the future, RightWingGamer?

RightWingGamer:

"I'll be here, on the forums. I'm currently working on developing a machinima with a home-made script and original music from ComposerKuandohan, but it's crawling along at a snail's pace. Probably won't be ready in 2012."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Interview with RightWingGamer

Posted by Asandir - June 25th, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

Todays interview features the user Mia. you should all know him for the many flashes that he submitted.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join?

Mia:

"I found NG when searching for Mario Parodies online. Some dipshit on YouTube forgot to edit out the NG logo on a stolen video and so I saw the flashes properly. I then joined and my life was ruined forever."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

One thing that always interested me is your username. Can you tell our readers why you have chosen the username MikeyS9607? Is there some meaning to it?

Mia:

"Mikey is my name, S is the first letter of my last name, 96 is 1996, the year I was born, and the 07 is 2007, the year I joined."

Changed his name to Mia

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Mia:

"Well I've improved at flash, and I've become friendlier with some users over the last few months."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Mia:

"My list is phucking huge.Krutches - A great inspiration. He has a sexy voice too. We are working on a great Flash of sexual desire, but it's not porn.Dosensuppen - This dude can criticize without being too much of a dick. He makes really funny animations and stuff too. He's helped me with my recent animations tip-wise.Skaren - He's a cool guy with lots of ponies. Asandir - He's a nice guy on the forums. Not sure you've heard of him before. He's also kick ass for reponding to PMs Mia - He's a user I see a lot in the forums and shit. Pretty cool guy.

They're the guys I talk to the most. Other users I like are Splapp-me-do, CrazyRock, LefyBoy, BanglaBoy96, and Mia."

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

Mia:

"Enemies? No. Users I dislike? Yes, but I don't want to give them recognition."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Mia:

"Tom and Wade hand pick mods for a reason. They all do their jobs just fine. I know what being a corrupt mod is like and NG is NOT corrupt. Even if a certain mod gives weird reasons for bans/locks, they have a good reason too. Also Clickteam is the worst mod ever."

Mia:

"I WAS an icon moderator, but was de-modded for not icon moderating. I think I'd like to be a review mod. It's a pain in the ass to go onto some front page flash just to see some quotes as a review. It would be great to be an admin and fix any errors or implement features."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

Mia:

"Overall it's fuck-KING Sex-EEEE. I have no major problems with it, except for some bugs they're gonna be fixing."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

It seems like you you became recently a fan of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Why do you like the show?

Mia:

"Like is an understatement. I love the show. I don't know why. It's so well animated! It reminds me of an awesome PSP game called LocoRoco. The characters are also very interesting, and in Pinky Pie's case, funny and random. I hope to see MLP:FiM go on to do many more seasons. btw, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are my favourites. Also the fans are fine, and people need to shut the fuck up. The fans I've met are all nice. "

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You have currently 97 flash submissions. Would you consider yourself a flash artist? How do you feel about it when your work gets criticized?

Mia:

"Considering some of the art I've seen in my life I could consider myself an artist. As for criticism, people take me the wrong fucking way, so I'm gonna put it in BOLD PRINT:There's a difference between being a total dick to a flash author, and being constructive and encouraging. It's not that I "CAN'T TAEK CRITISISMMM!!1", I just choose to ignore/respond like a dick to anyone I feel forcing orders down my throat. Not to mention, a lot of shit I get aren't even reviews."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Looking through some of your work, it seems like you work together with BanglaBoy96 quite often. How did both of you start to work together and can we expect more collaborations in the future?

Mia:

"We know eachother in real life. He's gone to like a study nazi school, and shit so he doesn't do much flash anymore, and I'm just lazy."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You won your first Newgrounds award, a Turd of the Week, for your flashsubmission "KIll Citty". Are your proud about winning this award?

Mia:

"My biggest regret is that I forgot to put flash ads in it. I laughed my ass off at the reviews."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You have your very own website, Mia.com. Can you teel our readers a bit about your website, how it started and what kind of changes we can expect in the future? Do you think that the community on your webiste is different from the one on Newgrounds?

Mia:

"I try to aim towards more new flash animators, but of course anyone can upload their stuff, as long as it doesn't break the rules. I don't have Blamming, so that even the worst flashes ever can be seen. Most of my sites members came from NG."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

What can we expect from you in the future, Mia?

Mia:

"I dunno. Expect me to make more flashes."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Interview with Mia

Posted by Asandir - June 18th, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user Amaranthus. You will read about his art, his Logo Club and much more.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username Red-Cheetah and why did you change it to Amaranthus?

Amaranthus:

"I used to play games on a stupid site that doesn't credit the authors. There was a game that linked me to Newgrounds, I think it was the Several Journeys of Reemus 1 by Zeebarf. So I clicked the link and found Newgrounds, i kept visiting the site but i didn't create an account till September, it was a Friday I remember it was the last live broadcast before the redesign. I chose the name Red-Cheetah because my favorite color is red and my favorite animal is a cheetah. After the redesign i got my name changed to Amaranthus because it's a flower I fancy."

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Amaranthus:

"Well Newgrounds became one of the little things I enjoyed in life. The art forum made me draw and practice more. But other than that nothing really changed."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Amaranthus:

"The users I like are: MaartenC, 123mine123, NL-Courage, Decky, NekoMika, dlxrevolution, Asandir and Gimmick."

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

Amaranthus:

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

Amaranthus:

"I don't have a favorite forum really, but I do like the art forum. I don't really know who should get interviewed but i guess I'd love to see a interview with dlxrevolution. A interview with Slint would be nice too."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Amaranthus:

"Hard answering this, the moderators can be mean sometimes but i guess they're just doing their job. I don't know if being a moderator is a great job, because I don't know if they get payed for it. If they would receive cash for being a moderator it's a great job."

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

Amaranthus:

"Since I successfully flagged some art piece's that got deleted I think i'd make a decent art moderator. I think i would suck as a forum moderator and the same for all the other moderator business. But being an art moderator would be great."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The redesign is finally here. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

Amaranthus:

"I like the lay-outs and the fact we have a few new options like video embedding. I don't really like the new level icons, they could have been better. I also don't like the fact almost everybody uses the blending background in their icon."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The Newgrounds chat has been revealed on April 1st. What do you think about the chat and the userbase that you meet there?

Amaranthus:

"It's okay, most of the time the conversations are boring. Also the fact that I'm a kid makes it hard to be taken seriously. But having a chat is a good thing I guess."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You created the Logo Club. Tell me how you got the idea for it and what your club does.

Amaranthus:

"Well I was in the mood to create a club and I was thinking about a list of people with a logo they use. We're thinking of logo-related activities to prevent the club from getting boring."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I heard that you like animals. Do you have any pets? Do you plan to have a job where you have to take care of animals?

Amaranthus:

"Me and my sister have a rabbit. But I always had a weakness for cats, all of them, lions, cheetah's, normal cats and many more. I'm in a agri-and hericulture school so caring for animals is a subject in school in the later grades. I really can't wait to do that to be honest."

You have your own logo. Many artists have drawn their version of it, some of them are included in the flash "Amaranthus By Artists". Tell me what you think about those pictures.

Amaranthus:

"Well the first one i ever got was ThePychoSheep's one, it was one of the most epic one's and looked like a fox. The one's of Gmoose14 and BigCman321 are my second favorite because they look different than the first one. Asandir's one is the most cutest, and it's freaking 3d!Lintire's one is the one i don't like to be honest."

Pico Day happened in April. Tell me how you experienced that day. Did you like the day or were you rather disappointed?

Amaranthus:

"I was expecting more flashes and art about it. But Portal Panic by Elvidian was the best Pico Day entry this year. I like the Pico Dat logo too."

You made a thread about Dubstep recently. What kind of music do you like? Do you use the audio portal from Newgrounds? If so, who is your favourite audio artist?

Amaranthus:

"My speakers have been broken for a long time so I never visit the Audio Portal. I like the music from Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers, I also like the song Pop Music by m. I used to like hip hop but that sucks now"

It seems that many users stick with Newgrounds because of the stats system. Do you think that the stats system makes you visit Newgrounds more regularly?

Amaranthus:

"Not really, I vote on five flashes everyday to rank and level up. It doesn't make me visit Newgrounds more no. But I do love ranking up."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

Amaranthus:

" I have secrets like my real name/identity. My secrets are going to stay secrets."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

What can we expect from you in the future, Ama?

Amaranthus:

"More attempts at art and more forum posting. I'll also keep collecting experience points and such. I'll also try to keep ranking up and such. Oh and Asandir, thanks for interviewing me."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Interview with Amaranthus

Posted by Asandir - June 11th, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user Spirit. You will read about his art, what he thinks about the chat and about his future on Newgrounds.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username ScaryPicnic?

Spirit:

"I must have discovered Newgrounds around 2009 via searching for Flash games. As with most dumb kids at that age it was about violent games and 'funneh' animations and such. However I do remember really enjoying David Firth's works such as the iconic Salad Fingers and his fantastic Jerry Jackson parody cartoons. I think his grim art style influenced some of my interests and 'work'. Likewise stuff like Newgrounds Rumble was a massive procrastinator for me, I loved that game so much. The 'Adult' section too provided all sorts of stuff for a horny confused lad. I remember fapping to my first Zone Sama flash. Ha ha. Also stuff like Tankmen provided lots of quotables for my retarded self. I made my account after wanting to earn Medals. I started to post on the forums originally as someone who was interested in Video Games. I chose the name 'ScaryPicnic' because...well, I was eating a chocolate bar at the time called a 'Picnic'. It's got like raisins and shite in it. Pretty generic thing but I was a twat so I just thought I'd name myself after it. Where the 'Spirit' came from I don't know. 'Lol randum'?"

Changed his username to Spirit

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Spirit:

"Yeah, I guess. I used to stick to the Video Game Forums originally and tried to come across as somewhat mature and reserved as I was self-conscious about my age. I actually remember Gustavos saying my first post was the 'best introduction to a forum ever' but looking back my early days were dumb. As my interests changed as I grew as a person, Video Games started to disinterest me. I took a break from the site for a good while before returning early 2011. Then I discovered General forums and at that time I was a far more well-rounded individual who became for interested in a variety of subjects. I also started to give less of a shit about a pompous serious persona and started having fun and messing around. You wouldn't call my current posting style 'serious', I imagine. I only really became pseudo-popular after I began shit posting regularly. Newgrounds hasn't changed my life too much, but it's improved my debating and analytical skills via the forums and i've met some cool people here. I've also found a lot of good new music and discovered a lot of good animators, so I'm happy with the influence the site has given me."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Spirit:

"I like, even love, a huge amount of users. Bees, Ptero, Gagsy, Asandir, Bumfodder, Landpaddle, Rummy0, Sevkat, PIED3, mandog, Natick, TurkeyBased, Yert, AnonymousOfCali, Halberd, Gobblemeister, SKHM (and all his ridiculous alts), Kane-Farrell, MrRager, FallenMartyr, Oliver....and I still feel like I'm missing so many people out, damn. Sorry if you feel I neglected you, much hugs and kisses, because I do actually enjoy the company of a lot of the users both in chat, forums, or elsewhere when we've talked on Skype or Facebook, or MuMu. I mean you probably picture me now with a thousand dicks in my mouth but I'm quite happy sucking on them all."

Spirit:

"Meh, not really. People make retarded posts, but I don't hold grudge. I can't think of a single 'enemy' or user I hate. Sure, there are people I look at and think 'you're pretty stupid' or 'why are acting like this' but then those are the people who usually get a kick out of attention anyway so I wouldn't mention them in interview. And people probably view me the same way, lol."

Spirit:

"They're cool. They have good days and bad, but that is universal for web forums. Sometimes a thread will be genius and other times it is a wasteland that provides nothing. It's the users that make it, and we have a lot of interesting users so as long as they keep posting i'm going to keep visiting, because they'll be people I like to interact with, joke with, topics I feel strongly about. General is fun, but Clubs & Crews is fantastic also for the specific chitter chatter amongst like-minded folk. Its slower, but more intellectual shall we say. Still I love General because you can find almost anything and you can't really predict what is coming next, particularly from certain users. Most of the people worth something have been interviewed already, but I think some slip under the radar. I know Bees has already been interviewed by someone else, but he's always nice to see, and Yert is a dude who is sort of an elusive character, and I think a lot lies beneath the surface and an interview would be fascinating. Hes tripped off his balls most of the time, ha ha, that could be fun. AnonymousOfCali is one of my favourite new users because he's got great taste and is really comedic and great for the banter. I'd love to see his thoughts, even though he has only started posting recently."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Spirit:

"Varies, of course. Murray, Coop, Timmy, deckheadtottie, TurkeyOnaStick, Dean. They do their job and are interesting characters who don't mind having a bit of fun. I think you need to remember that Mods are people too, maaaan. Some take their shiny badges and authority figure too serious and spoil it. I think some threads that are harmless fun are quickly locked, and that is a shame. But they manage to tread that fine line between being strict enough to stop spam and being cool enough to not ruin the forums with Nazi spankings. Though imagine Murray in a latex outfit with a whip."

Spirit:

"No. Well, let me think...still, probably, no. Mods have to be goody two shoes most of the time. Don't like it. I appreciate Mods, and I could probably be a Mod if I acted my true mature self, but I don't come to Newgrounds Forums to do that. I come to indulge the inner dickhead."

Spirit:

"At first I was skeptical, and I missed the more old layout because I thought the new one was far too...brash. But I've really come to enjoy it now and appreciate how more slick and user friendly it can be. Use of icons allows far more personalisation and gives users more character. The backgrounds are nifty but I think they can be too flashy at times. Plus that smoking Tank Girl gave me lung cancer via PM."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You are a scouted artist. Tell me how you started to make art. Will you release more art in the future on Newgrounds? What do you think about the scouting system?

Spirit:

"Well, I've always enjoyed Art even as a wee willy winkle. I probably scribbled Biro on all my toys like the vandalist I was. I was obsessed with fantasy worlds and creatures and people and drew lots of books and sketches about my latest obsessions. I also adored comics and took inspiration from Pokemon, The Simpsons, Futurama, Calvin & Hobbes, stuff like that. I used to create hundreds of characters and scripts. Some of them were actually pretty funny, for an idiot child. I might release more Art in the future but I'm shit at it to be frank with you. But people enjoy it and I always appreciate people enjoying my work. So if you're interested, and I don't know why, then keep your eyes peeled because one rainy day I will draw something. I promise. The scouting system is probably the most robust way to keep the Art Portal quality. People slip through the cracks but it is minimal. Thanks for scouting me, Asandir!"

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You use the Newgrounds chat from time to time. What do you think about the chat and the userbase that you meet there?

Spirit:

"I use it quite a bit. Is this your subliminal way of telling me to never return to chat? Yea, but I do enjoy it, and as I've said I like a lot of users. I think it can become very shitty, very quickly depending on how is in Chat. The ass-kissing can be unbearable even for me and sometimes I just don't feel like discussing Sonic and Tails having steamy sex on Optimus Prime's Batmobile piloted by Naruto in Pony form with a Reddit cutie mark. The Chat is as good as who is in there - I've had fantastic conversations and laughed myself silly when the right lads and lasses are chilling there. I hope i'm not too much of a dick in Chat."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

Spirit:

"'When I was 12 I imagined I was a velociraptor fucking a woman' - Spirit One secret that isn't true, is that I am the user Ptero. I don't know where the fuck this rumour came from (oh wait, it came from Bees, the indie wanker twat. Love ya). Anyway I'm flattered if you think I'm Ptero's alt. Oh wait, he's a tripfag on /tv/."

What can we expect from you in the future, Spirit?

Spirit:

"Atomic cars and sex robots. But really, more posts, more dumb posts, more really dumb posts, more lurking in chat, and that is about it. Unless I die. In which case I expect a Newgrounds funeral and Tom Fulp nursing my rotting body. Also, Literature Portal? Will submit if it actually works. Look forward to my Planet of the Apes/Harry Potter fan fiction."

Interview with Spirit

Posted by Asandir - June 4th, 2012

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user SpiffyMasta. He is a long time member of both Newgrounds and the Elite Guard Barracks and will tell us about his time on this site.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username SpiffyMasta?

SpiffyMasta:

"I found Newgrounds in 1999 or 2000. I'm an old fart. I was about 13-14 at the time. Someone basically told me to check out the website because of the Teletubby Fun Land and the Assassin games. Back then the standard for quality in flash was low, so these games were awesome and hilarious, especially for a kid my age. I was hooked to playing dress-up britney games, and killing various celebrities of the time. As far as joining, I can't remember exactly why I created an account, but I'm pretty sure it was because I wanted to be able to deposit experience points (gold points at the time or something like that lol). I forgot about that for a while as you can tell by my huge amount of exp vs my account date lol. I never really cared too much about it, I usually manage to deposit 5 days a week. But I'm going off on a tangent here. The name Spiffymasta was a nickname that I used back then. It essentially just came from the word spiffy/spliff cause i thought it was cool and I was the master of being spiffy. The things 12-13 year old kids think of... hahaha"

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

SpiffyMasta:

"Oh of course! I mean in ten years a person matures and grows up. I started as a young socially awkward high school nerd, finished high school as an active jock, went through my college hippie days (you should see the hair I used to have), moved to the US, finished college and spent time in the Marine Corps Reserve (4 years), and now I'm what you would call a responsible and mature adult of 25 with a mid-level management job. Still single though and no kids. I also went from a complete socialist liberal to a hardcore libertarian. If you read my first posts in the forum you'll see that I loved to talk politics and bash Bush cause it was the cool thing to do in Quebec (that's where I'm originally from). Now I think Bush was actually a great president and I believe in personal responsibility above all else. I learned that you should always check your facts and everyone else's facts before you jump into any kind of bandwagon. What someone tells you is almost never the complete story. There's always two sides to a coin. As a user I started just checking out movies and playing games, then started using the BBS in politics and joined the defunct Quebec Club, which was deleted a long time ago, but I had probably about 500 posts in there. After a few years of hiatus I came back and joined the NGPD. I helped TailsPrower run that club for a couple years. Then I leveled out and joined the EGB. These last few months I've been more active in the EGB and on the portal helping Wade keep an eye on any flashes that are rule breaking and need deleting, as you know the whistle system disappeared after the redesign, so I think I contribute handily. I have a knack for finding stolen flashes and other things."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

SpiffyMasta:

"I like to think that I like everyone from the EGB and NGPD current and former.gamejunkie and his daughter Shannon and I message back and forth quite often. We like to keep up with each other. I formed a relationship with TailsPrower during my time with the NGPD, we would chat once in a while outside of NG. I chat with silentcobra once in a while outside of NG, he's a former member of NGPD and inactive member of the EGB. I became good friends with a user from Quebec "Dez" back in the 05 days. Although she doesn't come to the site anymore, we still chat semi regularly. michelinman is also a user of mention. Fro is also a user I struck a relationship with, I even helped pay for his recent wedding by buying some baseball cards from him. All the regulars from the Wi/Ht forum, although sadly the regulars' and members' thread are long dead. You can always find our member number in our signature though. It is a semi exclusive club of helpful, regular users of the Wi/Ht forum. I think that covers everyone."

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

SpiffyMasta:

"Pretty much any user that tries to put kiddie porn on the portal, or hack accounts, or put malicious things in their flashes. I can take spam, but if you're gonna do illegal stuff, it's stupid."

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

SpiffyMasta:

"I love the forums. It's a big part of why I hang out on Newgrounds, so to speak. I mainly stick to the C&C and Wi/Ht forums. Most of the time General is a waste of time. I like the politics forum when I'm in the mood, and also the VG forum every once in a while. Main reason is the Wi/Ht, I like to help people. I have a lot of knowledge about NG, and it's fun to help out the noobs. I became a member of the Wi/Ht a couple years ago. You can find us with our Wi/Ht member # in our signatures. C&C I mainly frequent the EGB and NGPD threads. I also pop in once in a while to the old people's home for laughs. I'd like Twilight to get interviewed. But I don't remember what he changed his username to. I just wanna know what is wrong with that guy that he has to be such an attention whore on the forums lol. Like what pushes his buttons."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

SpiffyMasta:

"Moderators are a double edged sword. On one part, I can understand where they're coming from, on another, I think a lot of them let the power get to their heads. It is a voluntary position, but some people just take themselves waayyyyy too seriously. It's funny what status people think they have just cause they're mods. At the same time, I can see their use in keeping the real crap off the forums. Sometimes they just really stretch their use of force. I've had a few encounters in particular with Malachy. We've butted heads more than a few times, but I think he's got a pretty good head on his shoulders and he just tries to do his best. It's a tough job really, because whatever you do, I think someone somewhere is just gonna get pissy at you, and if you don't know how to not take things personally, that can take a toll for sure."

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

SpiffyMasta:

"Not sure yet. I'd have to think about it if the opportunity presented itself. That's all I can say about that."

You joined before the Redesign 2007 took place. Can you tell me how different the site was at this time?

SpiffyMasta:

"It was a whole different ball game. HAHA not really... I mean besides the level system being changed, nothing really affected me that much after the redesign. I still had a portal, and the forums. I think the level system was a great change though. It had become really pointless to deposit, because you didn't level up. It was all dependent on whoever had the most exp, which is and was always Pimp. Rumors are floating around that the Pimp account isn't even run by the same original guy either, that it gets passed on to different users that deposit for it. It's kind of like cheating if you ask me, but whatever. Anyways, after the redesign I was very happy that the levels were at a set amount of exp, and I could move past level 9 or 10 or whatever I was at that time. The icons looked a lot better too."

The redesign happened this year. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

SpiffyMasta:

"I like the new layout for sure. I was a little disappointed with the new level icons to be honest, I thought the old ones were a lot better. The secrets are gone sadly! Also I'm definitely missing the whistle system for flashes. Now I spend a lot of time checking up on the portal and messaging Wade if anything needs to get deleted. Which honestly is probably just as effective as the flagging system, if not more, cause I know what breaks the rules and what doesn't hahaha. I'm pretty sure there's a few other users that do this as well, so it's all safe and sound anyway. I think a lot of the changes were done on the back end, so not a lot to comment on on my part about those things."

You are a member of the Elite Guard Barracks. What are you doing for the group and how did you become a member?

SpiffyMasta:

"Well I started out in the NGPD. "If I remember correctly I came back from a hiatus on NG and started noticing that nothing was getting blammed anymore. I was frustrated with the amount of crap going through just because some people became generous with their votes and started essentially saving everything (because a vote of 2, 3, 4, or 5 is much more likely to get you a point than 0 or 1 if you know how anything about statistics). I made a thread about it here which summed up my feelings about the voting situation in the portal. Anyway, after that I randomly found the NGPD, I usually posted in the metal thread and had created a military club. I joined shortly in the hope of joining like minded people who put importance on voting fairly in the portal. Which was mostly the case. I had a good time there, at some point became the Unit-Ops (which was second in command) and was helping mold new recruits into upstanding citizens lol. I eventually ranked out and naturally joined the EGB. I think the dynamic is slightly different. Slightly more mature I guess. But the goal is the same. I am mainly a foot soldier, I spend my days catching stolen flashes and rule breaking items. I have a knack for these things I guess."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

"I have a third testicle. HAHA no I'm kidding. Something secret? Hmmm. I don't really have any cool secrets, sorry!"
