Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user TheGamechanger.

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username TheGamechanger?

TheGamechanger:

"I don't really remember when I first discovered Newgrounds but I have known about it for about 3 years or so and have frequently visited it from time to time. It wasn't until I finally made an account that I became a lot more active on the site. I decided to make a Newgrounds account because Newgrounds seemed like a fun place to be, and I wanted to be a part of that. (that's not my only reason for joining Newgrounds, but I'm keeping the other reason a secret for now because I don't plan on revealing it until a few years later)

As for my username, one of the reasons that I chose it is because one of my goals is to change the world by impacting it in a way that it leaves behind a lasting legacy that I can be proud of. The other reason is simply because it sounds awesome."

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

TheGamechanger:

"Well, I've been on Newgrounds before in the past but this is the first year in which I have a Newgrounds account, so I certainly changed activity-wise since I'm a lot more active on Newgrounds now than I was in the past.

In real life I've been exploring to things for me to try out and enjoy such as listening to bands that I never heard of or trying out new restaurants, and I have had quite the good experience from it. I've also been watching history and science shows and applying that knowledge to any situation in my life that requires it. Over the course of the year I've been feeling more relaxed and mellow than I was previously, although I'm still working on the mellow part."

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

TheGamechanger:

"I like any user that treats other users with respect and dignity, for that's how I know which users are sensible and ok users to hang out with and which ones are not. I also like any user who share the same interests as me, for that's when I know that I found a potential friend. I feel like the world is more interconnected with the powers of love, friendship, and kindness, so it feels great to have friends on Newgrounds."

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

TheGamechanger:

"I really hate any user who take stereotypes as facts and are too stubborn and corrupt to realize that they're in the wrong. I don't want to name them because I know that those users have their own fans and I don't want to upset those fans, especially since some of those fans are my own as well. To say it's a complicated relationship is a massive understatement. It's like a soap opera, only worse!"

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

TheGamechanger:

"The forums are a fun place to communicate and discuss topics of interest to me. I typically prefer the general forum, the video game forum, and the clubs & crew forum. I avoid the politics forum simply because I don't like politics. Politics nowadays is a little bit corrupt, and I want none of that.

As for users that should be interviewed I recommend Monster-64, fieldertiger, SentForMe, Cordyceps, DoctorStrongbad, Thor, & Loki. Any one of those users would make for a very interesting interview, for to me they are all intriguing characters in their own unique way. The same can be said of all the other users, so pretty much any other user who hasn't already gotten an interview deserves one."

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

TheGamechanger:

"I personally think that the moderators do indeed do a great job, but I must admit that some do better than others, as well as the fact that some are online much more often than the others, so I think that some of them need to retire to make room for trustworthy users who are online much more often to be promoted to moderator status."

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

TheGamechanger:

"I would be happy to accept an offer to become a moderator on Newgrounds. I would like to be a forum moderator, for I have a strong sense of justice and ethics that I would love to put to good use. One thing that I noticed on the forums is that some users still don't learn their lessons even when they do get banned, so in order to make sure that those troublesome users really do learn their lessons there needs to be an alternative method that guarantees that that they do learn their lesson that doesn't involve banning. Of course, that's just only a suggestion. I will be a rather mellow moderator, only acting when I sense a disturbance in the force."

The 1st Annual Ng User Icon Battle is one of the highly successful threads that you created. When did you get the idea to create a user icon battle? Did you expect the thread to go that well and how do you generally feel about the reception that it received from other forum users?

TheGamechanger:

"It first started out as a random thought when I was feeling bored while I was on vacation to Mammoth Cave National Park. I was half-expecting a mediocre amount of users to participate, but it turned out much better than initially hoped. I personally felt proud of myself that the majority of the users that participated in the thread gave very positive feedback on it, for that really meant a lot to me. Since it got locked before a winner was decided due to an emotional hiccup, I had no choice but to conclusively end it myself via MS Paint:

The Finale of the 1st Annual NG User Icon Battle"

Seems like you are a big fan of the Pokémon franchise. Tell my readers how you became a fan, which Pokémon you like the most and what your favourite Pokémon game is.

TheGamechanger:

"I forget when I first became involved with Pokémon but I know that it was before I was 10 years old. I didn't really get into Pokémon until 2009 when out of curiousity I decided to play a rented copy of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. From that moment on, I was hooked. I've been collecting and playing Pokémon ever since. (I'm not into the card games, only the video games) I'm a major collector of Shiny Pokémon, and I'm always on the lookout for even more Shiny Pokémon to add to my collection. My favorite "cute" Pokémon are Meloetta and Diancie, and my favorite "badass" Pokémon is Shiny Rayquaza. My favorite Pokémon game is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky."

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one game that you like a lot. Which aspects of this game do you like the most? Which other Mario games would you recommend?

TheGamechanger:

"I like Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the story, the memorable characters, the music, and the battle system. (I have yet to beat the Pit of 100 Trials)

As for a Mario game that I would recommend, the ones that immediately come to mind is the Mario Party series, the other 8 Mario RPGs (which are Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, the Paper Mario series, and the Mario & Luigi series), Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, and the Mario Kart series."

Judging from your news posts and YouTube channel, I think that you like good video game music. How important is music in video games in your opinion? What are some of your most favourite video game music tracks of all time?

TheGamechanger:

"To me video game music is very important, for its trying to establish a tone within the story of a game, to make the player feel a certain way about something, such as a feeling of dread upon hearing the area music of a cemetery or a feeling of relaxation when hearing that area music of a tropical beach. But the most important type of video game music is final boss music. Final boss music means that you're at the end of your long journey, so of course it should be the most epic music in the entire game. Add that to the fact that during a final battle the fate of the world as you know it or even all of existence is depending on you, then the final boss music must really sound epic and end-of-the-worldish!

As for some of my favorite video game music tracks, here they are:
Dark Star Core / In the Final
Deoxys Battle (Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire)
Battle with Rayquaza
Adventure's End
The Ultimate Show
Open Your Heart
Live and Learn
What I'm Made Of
Bowser Jr.'s Mad!
Melty Monster Galaxy
Digga Leg Battle
Cipher Peon Battle"

I heard that you like the movies Tron and Tron: Legacy. Tell my readers what both movies are about (short description of the plot/setting) and what you like about them.

TheGamechanger:

"Well I haven't memorised everything about both of those movies even though I saw them both. (I know that FinaLee was the one who brought up this Tron-related question, so I'm going to get back at FinaLee for that somehow)

What I like about Tron is of course the futuristic Tron lines and the techno music, and especially the music in Tron: Legacy since the music was made by Daft Punk."

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

TheGamechanger:

"I'm a stargazer. Every time it's a clear night and I'm out in the wilderness I go find a nice place to lie down and look at the beautiful starry sky, looking at the constellations and seeing the various nebula and galaxies. I've always been fascinated with outer space, for there's so much about space that humans have yet to explore and discover."

What can we expect from you in the future, TheGamechanger?

TheGamechanger:

"If I told you then it would spoil the surprise that I have planned in the future. As for when in the future, that's another surprise that I want to be kept secret. If I went and straight up told you what I was planning, then people would expect me to complete what I'm planning by a given date. By not telling others what I'm planning for the future, it gives me free rein to work as much as I want on what I'm planning for the future without having to worry about a deadline. And besides, it's fun to have people guess what I'm doing!

The only thing that I guarantee for the future is that I'll change the game!"

Great interview (like always), and I was actually going to suggest to you to interview TheGamechanger if I were to ever get interviewed.

Thanks ^^ The chances are good that I will interview you :)

ehh, not the best user on the forums, can definitely be annoying at times, but as for interviewees, definitely makes for an interesting one...
