What is the big deal about having a high post count? No one counts blog posts, and I consider them just as (if not more) important than BBS posts.

I think reaching 10.000 posts is considered important, since the somehow still roaming rumours of the secret 10K+ forum and since reaching 10.000 posts is one of the requirements to get on the Top 10,000+ Exp / B-P / Post List. Probably also one of the most liked stats since you can increase it so easily if you really want to. Back then making 200 posts per day was not that difficult ^^
I agree that blog posts are pretty awesome, too.
