Nice to hear Doom Triple Pack has made such a great impact on at least one person, that was an awesome game (at least the Doom part, obviously). Good interview!

Thanks!
Surprisingly, I never played any of the Doom games. I grew up with a Sega Genesis and the first major PC game I can recall playing is Morrowind, which I think was a nice start - and downloading mods with a 52k modem was quite the experience ^^

Shamefully I missed out on both the Genesis and mod downloads on dial-up. I've played a few Sega games later on (like House of the Dead), but none of the classics, or classic consoles, not Nintendo's either. Games like Oregon Trail, Sim Ant, Donkey Kong are what I grew up on, then I found my way to FPS games like Marathon and Quake, and finally... Doom! It sticks.

I see. As you can imagine Morrowind led me in a different path, RPG games. Gothic 1 and 2 (3 and onward are highly disappointing and unplayable due to bugs), the Elderscrolls Series and Action RPG games like Diablo 1 and 2.
The only FPS game I ever played is Bioshock - which is an own entity though and one of the most impressive games I ever played.

I've missed out on Bioschock too! Need to play that sometime. Of the games you mentioned so far, the only one I've played was Diablo 2, but that one was a lot of fun. Tried getting it to work on my 'new' computer, but even with all available patches/fixes applied there are too many comparability issues in 64-bit systems. Have you tried Breath of Fire and Golden Sun?

I indeed played Golden Sun, the two titles for the GBA and the one for the DS and I liked all of them. I wanted to try out Breath of Fire but I haven't done so yet - I still have some RPG games for my DS that I haven't played through, including Suikoden Tierkreis.
As for Diablo 2 not working - I can recommend Titan Quest Gold edition, it is from 2006 but it is almost as good as Diablo 2 . some things are even better in my opinion. It's definitely worth playing through although it has pretty much no story ^^

Titan Quest Gold does seem like fun, might try it! Not sure if Diablo 2 had much story either, maybe you remember? I've played through both Golden 1 & 2, but I haven't tried the DS version yet. The first ones were surprisingly good, and long, I didn't think that much could fit on a GBA cartridge! I tried the Breath of Fire on PSX, but not so much, first impressions were good though. The best games I know are a bit of a mixture between FPS and RPG, like Oni.

Well, Diablo 2 had in my opinion a good story. It wasn't forced upon you, you could get background information by talking with the people in town but didn't have to - the cinematics were and still are one of the best. Sadly the story in Diablo 3 is both predictable and cheesy - generally Diablo 3 is not a game that I would recommend atleast not until it costs 10 Dollar ^^
I think that you will be visually impressed by the DS Golden Sun but I found it a bit less good than the GBA titles - but it's still worth getting and enjoyable.
If you like a combination of FPS and RPG, then maybe Borderlands is something for you, it goes more in the direction of an FPS Action RPG though.

Good to know. Borderlands does look good, but probably not something that'd fit in my favorites. Forgot to mention games like GTA and Resident Evil btw, I guess those could be considered hybrids of FPS/RPG too, they're a couple of franchises I've really become hooked on. :) I guess you haven't tried Oni btw? It's a pretty unique game in how it mixes hand-to-hand combat with weapons, occasional puzzles, and a storyline that really sucks you in. Great voice acting too. The graphics are a bit outdated, but the voicing is something else. I haven't found anything like it.

Just recently ordered a new computer btw, so I'll finally be able to try some newer games. It's got an 8-core 3,1Ghz processor, 8GB RAM (32 max), Radeon GPU with 1GB memory... compared to my current computer it'll be like jumping into a different dimension. :)

About Golden Sun DS, could you play it with buttons only or did it require the stylus for some things? I get a bit annoyed with games that don't give you the option of playing either with or without. Oh, have you tried Advance Wars?

I like GTA! My favourite is San Andreas. never played GTA IV since I don't like that you have to make tons of accounts just to play it. I think GTA V will be good though, as I heard many didn't like GTA IV since it left out stuff like mini games and free roaming or atleast limited it.
As for Resident Evil, I don't usally play scary games - I don't even dare to play Slender - but I watch Let's Plays of such games. If you like Slender, then there is a game called Dream of the Blood Moon which is heavily influenced by japanese culture - it's pretty cool but I only played it for a bit as I am scared by the grudge like woman :o

That computer sounds good..... I didn't know that there were already 8 cores ^^

You can play Golden Sun DS without stylus and I did so for the most part. Holding a heavy DSiXL and the stylus for some time can become stressful :D

Ah, GTA SA is a favorite of mine too! I spent way too much time playing that game, and seeing as GTA 5 will feature the San Andreas area again I'm really looking forward to it! My current computer can't handle GTA 4 so I'll be trying that one soon, I hope, I've had it for a couple of years but not been able to play. :) The computer did seem good, I can't wait to try it out! There are computers with more than 8 cores btw, I think it's up at 12 now.

The Resident Evil series isn't that scary, at least not the newer games. It has some suspense and violence, but not really that 'supernatural' thing most scary games have. It's more of an action game now.

Good to know. :)

12 cores ... with that I can play Solitaire with 60 FPS, finally :o
I had Skyrim for some time bought on Steam but no computer to run it even on minimum, and then I could play it with a bunch of high texture mods ^^

Hm.... I think I mixed Silent Hill and Resident Evil up.... they are indeed not similiar anymore :)
