Interview with Viper

Asandir's interviews with Newgrounds forum users

This week's interview features the user Viper.

When did you find Newgrounds and why did you join? Why did you choose the username Viper50?

Viper:

"I found Newgrounds in 2006. It was during school and I saw some people in my class on the site. I remembered the URL and went on when I was able to. I continued to frequent the site til a bit before the 07 redesign when I stopped coming on here for some reason....and in early 2010 I saw my brother on the site again and started coming on here more frequently than before. And in June of that year I decided to make my account. The reason my username is Viper50 is because right before I made my account I bought a new guitar. Which is an ESP LTD Viper-50. So I wanted to see if Viper was available and it wasn't. So I just added the "50" on the end and stayed with that. I was going to try seeing if I could get Viper as a username since the profile hasn't been used since it was made in like....2001 or something but decided I'm okay with it the way it is."

Changed his username to Viper

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Do you think that you changed over the time you were here, as user, or also in real life?

Viper:

"Yeah I suppose I have. When I made my account I was an immature 17 year old. Now I'm an immature 20 year old. Hahaha."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any other users that you like, and how do they affect you?

Viper:

"Yeah. One of the first people I met on here (who I don't know if I should mention by her username because I'm not 100% sure she'd be "okay" with that). I still talk to her after almost 3 years which absolutely amazes me o.O Other than that I'd say VicariousE, Destrayop, Provoke (now Vnzi), and so on and so forth. As to how they affected me, can't really say. It's nice to have people I can chat with on a regular basis on here."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Are there any users that you would consider enemies or that you just don't like?

Viper:

"Honestly no. There aren't any users on here I do not like or consider an "enemy". I mean there are some that I probably wouldn't want to talk to extensively but other than that I'm okay with everyone no matter how much of an annoyance they can be to other users."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

What is your opinion about the forums? Is there one forum that you prefer? And is there another forum user that you want to see getting interviewed by me?

Viper:

"I quite like the forums. I pretty much stay on there all day too xD. As for preference I tend to be on General more often than any of the other forums though I also like the C&C Forum. I suppose you could interview VicariousE. He's been a user on here for 12 years."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I guess that you have an opinion about the moderators of Newgrounds. Do you think that they do a great job or not?

Viper:

"I think they do a great job. Granted I suppose there are a few that don't do much, but other than that I have no problems with any of them."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Would you like to become a moderator on Newgrounds? If so, what kind of moderator?

Viper:

"Either I don't really care either way. If it happens it happens. But if not it doesn't bug me. Though I suppose if I were to be a mod I'd want to be Forum Mod."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The redesign happened last year. Tell me what you think about it. What do you like and what is not so good?

Viper:

"I actually like the redesign. Though I can't say I don't miss the previous design since that one was the one I've known the longest (sorry I couldn't really....word that correctly). I like the Newgrounds Social as well as the layout of the user pages. I don't like that the Whistles aren't working the way they used to. I can't think of anything else I don't like at the moment. But I'm pretty sure there is something else...."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Judging from your newsposts, you have pets. How many pets do you have and how important are they to you? Also: do you have a snake, if not would consider getting one in the future?

Viper:

"I have three cats and two dogs. Well...technically they're my sister's but she likes to say they're mine too. The cats are: a 13 (going on 14) year old black Norwegian Forest Cat, a 10 year old Persian and Maine Coon mix, and some...tabby cat who we was a stray when we got her. The dogs are a stray we picked up and a 2 year old Chihuahua. They all mean a bunch to me. Like if either of the older cats died I'd be unimaginably sad because we've had them since I was a kid and I have yet to find another cat who'd be able to replace them. I do not have a snake. Though I guess I'd be okay with getting one at some point in the future."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You make music. Tell our readers how you started making music and what kind of audio submissions they can expect to see in the future from you.

Viper:

"I started making music when I got my first guitar when I was I wanna say....14 or 15. I suppose they can expect to see more Metalish audio submissions. But I've slowed down A LOT when it comes to recording stuff. Dunno why, I guess I can't find anything to "inspire" me. Though I still have over 200 audio things on my computer....but none of those are anywhere near okay enough to submit on here. I have a few things I have which I could be submitting right now but I'll probably hold off on that for a bit."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I saw that you have a collection of guitars. Do you have one that you like the most? Is there a guitar that you want to have?

Viper:

"Lately I suppose I like my red guitar (the Viper-50) the most. I've always wanted either a Fender Jaguar or Mustang. Though I have a list of 100 guitars I'd love to have xD"

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You also collect... monster cans. Is there other interesting stuff that you collect?

Viper:

"No not really. I stopped "collecting" monster cans because my ex decided to bitch about me drinking it -_-"

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Every person has secrets. Can you tell one of yours or something else that we didn't know about you yet?

Viper:

"Can't think of any secrets of mine. I suppose there is the fact I am bi-polar...but thats not really a secret if you talk to me enough."

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

What can we expect from you in the future, Viper?

Viper:

"More shitty audio, more bad posting when it comes to the BBS, and I suppose the fact that I intend to be on here for years to come. So...yeah. (dunno if that last thing counts though ( ._.) "

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Interview with Viper50

Comments

I used to "collect" Mtn Dew.

Only really these, though:
http://www.energyfiend.com/wp-content/uploads/
mountain-dew-art.jpg

Those designs are pretty cool :o

Yeah but I stopped because mtn dew is the worst thing ever. water is gr8

hi daeth

Well I only drink water too.... someone should make fancy water bottles. Like.... be healthy and cool ^^

I think that dragon seal of approval needs to be used again. ;)

* Gigantic dragon claw puts seal of approval on Viper50's forehead *
yay ^^

Ah, 100 entries, if it had all been interviews this would have been something out of the ordinary. :) I'll second that idea for an interview with VicariousE, he seems like a person with many stories to tell.

I always thought the name Viper50 was based on the car, judging by that profile pic (not that it's a viper, but it looks like ^ is interested in cars). Great interview!

Yes, difficult to imagine but there was a time where I didn't make those interviews - never thought that there would be so many of them ^^
An interview with VicariousE could be indeed interesting, I will ask him.

As for Viper50, I too didn't know the real origin of his name. So I am glad that we both found out and that you like the interview :)

Oh hey I completely forgot about this interview til I glanced down and saw today was the 16th and that you said you were going to post this yesterday xD

Awesome :D

So you're still reviewing after all these years. Haha good stuff.

Yes I still do those ^^

I'm like 8 months late for this but, @Cyberdevil
The car in my profile pic is MY car. It's a '79 Ford Ranchero.
The little blue car in the background is also my car. It is a '61 Studebaker Lark VIII Cruiser. The Lark is actually a kinda rare car. As far as I know they only made a couple thousand of em.

Gotta say you have some nice cars :o

@Viper50 never too late. :P Good knowing, any others cars you've collected? I'd be investing in classics myself it it weren't for taxes, don't know how it is in the US but here just owning a ride is pretty expensive.

Owning a car being quite expensive seems to be the general rule in whole europe ^^

Thanks o:
We have more cars. My sister has a Maroon '68 Mustang and my dad has a light blue and white '58 Chevy Biscayne 4-door and a dark blue '51 Studebaker Champion 4-door.
We also at one point own:
A dark green '69 Chevy Nova, an ivy gold '67 Mustang, a '60 Ford Starliner, 3 '64 Ford Thunderbirds, an orange VW Kombi Camper Van (don't remember the year), a '30 Ford Model A, among others.

That's an impressive collection I must say. I thought you would have a Dodge Viper though ;3

Indeed, and that owning a car is cheap seems to be a general rule for the US. :) I don't know about other countries, but in Sweden there's at least no tax on veteran cars (older than 30 years), but insurance is obligatory, along with a yearly check-up that often results in reparation costs for somewhat insignificant defects. Fuel is hellishly expensive too... how is it where you live?

In Germany fuel is very expensive and yearly check-up (TÜV) costs money too, insurance is also obligatory. Parking costs are also very high, of course there are never enough parking places either ^^

(Asandir)
Nah I don't. I can't afford one of those xD

(Cyberdevil)
All of the cars we've bought were relatively cheap.
(like within the $1,000-$3,000 range. My dad bought a GMC Jimmy once for $20. And a '59 Impala (his first car) for I wanna say $50. But the latter was in the early '70s that that kinda makes sense.

Sounds like fair prices for those cars ^^

Ah, Germany! Land of the autobahn! :D Is it as much fun as the reputation preceding it? Do you drive btw? What about taxes? Here parking costs aren't so bad unless you live in the larger cities, but parking space is another thing preventing me from buying my own car yet, we just have the one spot.

I only drive as co-driver, autobahn is fun but I actually prefer normal roads since you can see the scenery, like cows and stuff. It's also more relaxed since the autobahn is quite full often, in the last years more and more driving speed limits for the autobahn were introcuded so you can't rush much faster than on normal roads, actually. I think parking costs can go as high as 5€ per hour D:

Yeah they were.
Though the Jimmy like....died or something. So we junked it.
(long story short there was a short in the wiring and it caused the entire car to die and we couldn't fix it)

May Jimmy the car rest in peace :[

@Viper50 woooah, $20! Cars definitely seem cheaper in the US, wonder if it'd be worth the import hmm...

$1,000-$3,000 is the price range for normal second-hand cars here, like a chunky white (apparently the most common color for -->) twenty year old Volvo 700 or a tiny lime-green Golf VW, I actually called in for a $500 car once but alas, about twenty people were already in line! Some day...

Same here. I don't like white as colour for a car. Too bland and you see every scratch on it :o

Ah, guess the autobahn still brings in a lot of tourists though? As far as I know, it's the only public road in the world that allows, at least for certain parts, unlimited speeds... but you probably know more about that than I do? Agreed, cows and stuff are great. :) I love winding forest roads, but still it'd be a new experience to see how fast a car can really go without worrying about running into trees and brown bears.

It surely attracts tourists, yes. As for brown bears.... the last one we had (or the first wild one for over a decade) was shot ... in favour of tourists :/

Sad to hear about the bear. :( I haven't actually seen one myself, but the neighbor stumbled upon one feasting upon the corpse of an elk once. You hear them whistling sometimes too. This is all up North btw, summertime, in Stockholm there are unfortunately no such interesting species roaming free...

I think white looks awesome if it's clean, so fresh and... white! :D Though I agree I wouldn't want one myself, something orange/yellow would be nice, or just black/dark.
