Unusal update today since one of my interviews vanished somehow - so I just post something here. Next Interview, number 41, will be released on Monday.
My thoughts on Pico Day:
Truth to be told, for anyone who wasn't a at the party and only able to watch the livestream - it was rather boring. There were a few flashes but some of them were pretty good - my favourite is probably Pico Party Mayhem. Would have been nice to see the Tank awards on that day but they didn't happen and they weren't mentioned since then.
The flash portal:
The recent banishment of shovelware made me happy - although some of those accounts still get recreated and throw their trash on the portal - but the Genre mods can add deletion tags to them, so they will vanish soon enough. That should be the end for the days where Shovelware flashes dominated the portal sometimes and even won daily awards. Apart from that, I still miss an option to flag content and hope that the portal mods system will be implented rather sooner than later.
The redesign itself:
I think I was never vocal about it, so now I will post my thoughts here. It was a bit difficult to get used to it in the first weeks - no offence but Newgrounds looked always pretty simple and was never something that you would consider eyecandy - but now the site looks very colourful and stylish and I must say that the layout grew on me. Definitely one of the most beautiful sites out there - other flash sites can't compare with it in my opinion.
A big advantage is that new features can finally be added more quickly - the improvements that have been made since the redseign are immense.
So all in all I am very happy with it and I am looking forward to more - this could be the year of Newgrounds in terms of improving the site.

But at least it's a *bit* comforting to know that even other portals are not spared -- I visited Kongregate with the username "delete1774(random number, I can't change it and as such have virtually abandoned kong but it's beside the point)" and went to Loussi's userpage there, because of a stolen flash here. So I saw a game that was also submitted by a shovelware account, which was also a dressup game.
It's more comforting to know that NG isn't as lax as Kongregate in this, at least something is being done here.
I would take a guess and say that Kongregate doesn't really care about such content or doesn't listen to the userbase as much as Newgrounds does.

Picture irrelevant?
I agree, the shovelware is being piled up high in the portal and even though Genre mods are able to tag them as deletion, it makes you wonder...
There are still some shovelware games that are being submitted by "games2<generic username" that aren't immediately tagged as shovelware.
But what is the *actual* definition of "Shovelware" per se, and how do we *find out* that an account is shovelware?
I mean, i see any generic car game or such, and i was a genre mod, would I tag it as "Deletion"? Do I *wait* until more flashes are submitted, just to see if it was a legit account? Should I PM the user and see if they respond, at which if they don't I just tag them? What is it exactly?
And i must say, the redesign -- i must've said it countless times -- is wonderful :3

As for shovelware, I only tag the ones that are pretty obvious and that I have seen in a similiar fashion (no pun intented) before.

Hopefully shovelware can be flagged and removed by portal mods too. Kind of sad though since it seems to be they could care less about having their content removed and make new accounts. Looking forward to the Tank Awards too.
From what I heard, portal mods can unpublish flashes - since those shovelware accounts aim for ad revenue and for getting hits for their own site, it should help to keep them away :)
